Fashion Goes Digital: Adidas and Nike Dominate the NFT Runway

The fashion world is stepping into the metaverse, and sportswear giants Adidas and Nike are leading the charge with their NFT collections. According to CoinGecko, these athletic titans boast 12 and 9 NFT collections respectively, leaving the competition in the dust.

Adidas: The brand that brought us the iconic three stripes was also one of the first to embrace NFTs. Their journey began in late 2021 with “Into the Metaverse,” and since then, they’ve launched solo collections, collaborated with Bape and Bugatti, and even hosted a Web3 artist residency program.

Nike: Not to be outdone, Nike made a strategic move by acquiring Web3 studio RTFKT in late 2021. This powerhouse duo has since unleashed six collections under the RTFKT banner, and Nike even established its own Web3 platform, “.SWOOSH,” showcasing two sneaker NFT collections and an identity NFT collection.

Third place goes to Puma, who’s strutting their stuff with six collections of their own. Their collaboration with the NFT project Gutter Cat Gang and basketball star LaMelo Ball for a redeemable sneaker collection was a particularly eye-catching move.

This CoinGecko study highlights the pivotal role sportswear brands play in shaping the future of fashion NFTs. With their innovative spirit and global reach, they’re paving the way for a new era of digital fashion, where sneakers transcend the physical realm and become coveted digital assets.

So, fasten your virtual seatbelts! The fashion NFT runway is about to get even more exciting, and Adidas, Nike, and Puma are just the beginning.
